The A1cs x220 tablet is made with all of the cables that are required for usage. The A1CS X220 Tablet Review

The A1CS X220 tablet is a mobile device using Google’s Android operating system version 2.1. The device’s basic hardware is as follows. The tablet is configured with a 1GHz ARM processor with 256 MB of system memory. In includes 2GB ROM and flash card support of up to a maximum of 32GB. The touch screen has a display resolution of 1024 x 600. It supports Wi-Fi and various video and audio formats such as mp4, avi, wma, mp3, and aac.

When you first start the system, you need to make sure that you follow an instruction set of that is separate from the user manual. This instruction set first welcomes the user and gives you information on the android operating system. If the remaining instructions are not followed, the tablet may crash and you will have to perform a factory reset. However, if you carefully follow the instructions, you should be up and running in no time.

Once the system has booted up, you need to contact A1CS to get the registration number for the unit. The response from them only took a couple of minutes for them to email the registration code.

Some people complain Android 2.1 devices are slow, but this device is very responsive. However, their built in web browser does not play flash files directly. But by going to the Android Market app, you can download a browser called Skyfire that will allow the device to play flash content that is being delivered on web sites, and this includes flash videos. You should become good friends with the Android Market. From the market you can download such apps as Amazon’s Kindle eBook reader and various media players, which are mostly free. The market has lots of great apps to enhance the A1CS X220 tablet.

Now, here’s more about the device itself. It comes with all the cables that you need for connectivity including a GPS receiver that has a nice long cable. With it you can mount the receiver to the roof of your car for better reception when using the built in navigation software’s navigation mode. If you don’t like the built in software, remember that you can always download a new navigation app.

As for the touch screen, it offers good response, but you need to get use to it since you can easily select the wrong option. The device also comes with a built in camera and the ability to stream videos with the right apps. Also, movies playing from either of the USB sockets on the device are quite smooth.

Overall, with a cheaper price and more options, the A1CS X220 tablet may be able to give the iPad some real competition.

I bought this tablet from A1CS last Tuesday and it was delivered on the Wednesday morning. The tablet came with a free slip case and screen protector which was a nice surprise as these were not mentioned.

First of all this is not an iPad, but at the third of the price, more connection options and software support it gives the iPad real competition.

The tablet device itself is easy to use with external controls mounted on the top of the tablet and the interface connections down the right hand side.

The 2x MicroSD sockets and the 2 x USB sockets means there is great possibilties for expansion and swopping of files between a PC and the tablet.

The screen is resistive compared to the capacitive of the iPad meaning you need to touch it slightly harder to operate but after a few minutes of operation you soon forget this.

The only issue I have with the tablet is that it doesn’t work with my o2 3G dongle, this isn’t too much of an issue for me because I plan to use it mainly connected to the internnet via wifi but people buying this for use outside of the home and away from wifi hotspots should take note of this.

A fantastic buy at a very competitive price.

Windows xp tablet edition recovery disk?

I have a toshiba portege tablet which runs on xp tablet edition. The hard drive recently failed and have had a new one put in. The only problem is that i dont have the operating system disk. Is there anyway i can download it for free as the one i had before was genuine?

As far as I know Tablet PC edition (which is a superset of XP Pro) is only available as an OEM – you can’t purchase it or obtain it legally other than from the original manufacturer.You may be able to find one on Ebay or buy checking out a good tablet pc forum such as Tablet Pc Buzz

wihich has a Toshiba section; someone may be willing give you an .iso file which you can then burn to cd or dvd.

Alternatively, you could install Vista which includes support for Tablet PCs by default; the problem with this of course is ensuring that you have the necessary drivers – check the Toshiba site for Vista drivers or again ask the Tablet PC Buzz forum members for advice. Good luck and yeah, I know, it’s frustrating!

Question by Tom: If I am owed money, is it illegal to hold on to company property if I no longer work for the company?
I had to leave my last job as the company stopped paying their employees. I have 2 month’s salary owed to me which I am currently taking action in the Employment Tribunal to recover. As I worked from home, I have quite a bit of company IT equipment in my home. I offered to do a handover before I left but this was declined by my employer, and they insisted that my resignation was effective immediately once I handed in my notice.

They are now, 3 weeks after my resignation, trying to get all their IT equipment back and telling me I need to arrange for it to be delivered back to their office. They still owe me around £5,000 in unpaid wages, but are threatening to involve the police if I do not return the equipment. I have 2 iPads, an iPhone, a laptop and 10 generic tablet computers.

I don’t feel like it should be my responsibility to have to go out of my way to return their kit seeing as though I no longer work for them, but I might be persuaded to do so if they actually paid me what they owe! Does anyone know where I stand, legally speaking, in this situation?

Yes it is theft, but they also owe you money. So if they go to the police, they’ll only be told to give you the wages, or let you keep any items up to the value of what they owe you.
