Cheap alternative to the Galaxy Note,
So essentially this is an unbranded Chinese Samsung Galaxy Note clone.
My order took 8 days to arrive, pretty good going, with no hidden customs charges to deal with.
Packaging was adequate, just a few reams of bubble wrap but everything was undamaged inside.
Phone was up & working within a couple of minutes.
If you’re at all familiar with Android it’s a doddle to set up & the touch screen is as responsive as any other Android device I’ve used from the Asus Transformer on down to the humble HTC Desire.
Everything works as it should, no weird settings required – just pop your sim in & away you go.
Call quality is good, not brilliant, the speaker is a little on the quiet side but it gets the job done.
Camera takes adequate snaps in good light but it won’t replace a good compact.
Video quality is poor (I have an HD compact to compare with).
In use the phone is very snappy with no real lags of note. Of course there’s the odd force closure of apps but that’s more an Android thing than fault with the phone. Size wise it’s not too outrageous either & pretty slim. I love the textured back, feels very comfortable in the hand. Build quality is solid too & it has a nice chrome trim running around it.
The only thing that’s not great is the screen, which is a little washed out colour wise & not proper HD resolution despite the stats but still better than the majority of ‘budget’ Android phones available from the big name companies.
All in all for the price, this is pretty unbeatable, especially as you can just pop a micro sd in to increase storage & it’s not loaded down with network provided software so there’s no real need to root it.
As everyone knows by now, comes with 2 batteries, a spare back, 2 pairs of headphones & screen protector already fitted! 3 pin UK plug/USB lead too.
Service from DracoTek can’t be faulted. I sent a request for a white one when I ordered & received a positive response within 24hrs.

|Star N8000 large screen,
Just received this phone from DracoTek and it has far exceeded my expectations so far. It is a slightly smaller screen than the highly successful Samsung Galaxy Note which I was considering to replace my excellent Galaxy S.
The build quality and performance of the Star is exceptional (Antutu benchmark of 3500 compared to 3000 of my Galaxy S)for the price. I was very pleased with the purchase of a Chinese tablet (Momo9) with the similar CPU, and I have not been disappointed with this phone. Haven’t used it for phone calls yet but have downloaded most of my favourite apps.
I’ll amend this review if there any significant developments, but as long a nothing fails, I would recommend it to anyone wanting a large screen phone but hesitant to spend £400.
